The Secret Service is looking into the threats Creed singer Scott Stapp made against President Barack Obama's life last month during a psychotic episode, People reported on Friday.
Stapp's wife, Jaclyn Stapp, called 911 to say the Creed frontman needed assistance. That's when she mentioned her husband's supposed plans to kill the president.
"He thinks he's part of the CIA. He thinks they're trying to kill him and he has a bunch of paperwork in his backpack that [says] he's a CIA agent and he was supposed to assassinate Obama," Jaclyn, 34, says in the 911 call.
These comments were part of a conversation that Stapp's sister-in-law had with 911 operators shortly after the singer was released from a mental health facility last month.
The Secret Service investigates threats against presidents and their families, and is aware of his comments.
"We are aware and we'll take appropriate action," Secret Service spokesperson Nicole Mainor said.
Jaclyn Stapp also told 911 operators that the singer was riding a bicycle shirtless carrying a backpack filled with items that he said came from the CIA, including hard drives, wrenches and screwdrivers.
Stapp has also lost custody of his children, who were handed over to his estranged wife by a Florida judge on Friday.
