Dolly Parton is as excited as a new bride. She and her husband of 50 years are going to renew their vows to celebrate the milestone anniversary.
The country superstar's husband is Carl Dean, who has shunned the spotlight for five decades, preferring the solitude of their Tennessee ranch to the buzz of show business. However, Parton reveals that Dean was "a little excited" when told him of her idea to celebrate their 50 years together with a big deal ceremony.
Of Dean, Parton beams, "I love the fact he loves me, sees me, tolerates me, because of and in spite of myself," the singer told the UK newspaper The Mirror.
"It's all about the sweet little things he does like picking flowers for me, making my coffee in the morning. He is incredibly thoughtful and we love each other for all the same reasons.
"We are very different but very compatible. And it just works. The two greatest gifts God ever gave me was a best friend -- Judy [Ogle] -- and then Carl.
"I can't imagine what my life would have been without them," she said.
Parton met Carl back in 1964 at a laundromat in Nashville. Dolly didn't provide a date for the ceremony, although she's sure they will be surrounded by friends and family.
"We will re-marry in the grounds of our home that we built all those years ago -- it's a beautiful, old Southern mansion and it will be on the date of our 50th wedding anniversary," she said.
"It will just be family but there will be at least 200 people with all our nieces and nephews."
