Taylor Swift: Because I Create ‘Ripples’ I Put All My Actions ‘Through A Filter’

When Taylor Swift was known as a down-to-earth country music star, she was always aware that her actions had consequences for her fans. Now that Swift is a full-fledged pop star splashed across the news more than ever before, she confesses she still wants to be a good role model. And to accomplish that goal, she declares she puts every one of her actions "through a filter."

Speaking to Barbara Walters during a taping for the journalist's annual TV special "The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014," Swift didn't hold back about why she feels it's important other young women have positive influences to look up to in the entertainment world.

"I put every one of my actions through a filter before I do them because that's the way my life is," the "Shake It Off" singer told Walters, according to Entertainment Tonight. While discussing a hypothetical tabloid scandal, Swift noted, "If that story gets out or some 10-year-old sees that I did that in a news article, like my actions do have ripples."

Does she gauge her partying through a "filter," too?

Swift confided to Walters that she never took advantage of her celebrity status to get under the influence, but she acknowledged that she does drink.

"Well I do drink, I'm 25," she noted. "But I did wait until I was 21 because I was so paranoid about getting into trouble."
