LeBron James Nike Sneakers Shipment Stolen, Worth $1.5 Million

A Tennessee man was so pumped about the release of LeBron James' new style of Nike sneakers that he stole a truck filled with 7,500 pairs of the shoes.

Charles Jennings, an employee of cargo transportation company Intermodal Cartage Group, used his ID card to get into a secure lot and drive away with the valuable shoes in November.

"He had a pretty good idea what he had," Mark Dunbar, assistant chief of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, said to ESPN. "They were Nikes and they were more valuable in that they hadn't been released yet."

The sneakers were being developed for more than three years, reported Cleveland Magazine.

Jennings got away with an estimated $1.5 million worth of shoes, reported ESPN. Once the shoes hit the shelves at Nike they will be priced at approximately $200 (they will be sold to retailers at $83 a pair).

When authorities caught Jennings they found the stolen shipment, but about 700 pairs of shoes were missing.

Jennings admitted to the crime upon his arrest in a recorded interview by authorities. He is currently free on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to reappear in court in the new year.
