Sony Emails Reveal Mark Cuban's Anger Over 'Shark Tank' Compensation, Threat to Leave Series

Don't mess with Mark Cuban's money.

The billionaire and business investor on ABC's "Shark Tank" reportedly threw a hissy fit after learning what his compensation would be for appearing on the reality competition show, according to recently leaked emails between Sony Pictures executives.

Business Insider reported that the conversations were between Cuban, Sony Pictures chair Amy Pascal, Sony Pictures television President Steve Mosko and Cuban's Companies general counsel Robert Hart.

The owner of the Dallas Mavericks was reportedly offered $30,000 per episode for season five, $31,200 for season six and $32,488 for season seven. Altogether, Cuban would receive $904,800 for appearing in 29 episodes.

He was also told that the deal would prevent him "from exploiting various aspects from the show." Sony reportedly wanted the rights to Cuban's catchphrases, which included his "nicknames, gestures, utterances, etc."

"Seriously?" he wrote in response. "This is beyond an insult and it shows no one cares about the investments I have made or the entrepreneurs. Now it's really business.. I will negotiate like any other deal I would do. You may want to start cutting me out of the promos."

Cuban responded to the leaked conversation via email, writing, "I look at it as a positive that I had direct access to Steve. Now we communicate via Cyber dust."

Business Insider reported that Cyber Dust is Cuban's recently launched texting app, which allows users to send messages and pictures that will "disappear after 30 seconds."
