Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray suffered a broken bone in his left hand during Sunday's win against the Philadelphia Eagles and will need surgery to repair the damage. However, there is still a chance he could play this week, ESPN Dallas reports.
Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones revealed Murray's injury on 105.5 The Fan in Dallas. He did not, however, elaborate on the severity of the injury.
Murray is on pace for a league high 401 carries this season. Should Murray reach that mark, it would be just the sixth time in NFL history a running back topped the 400-carry mark. The fourth-year rusher leads the NFL with 1,687 yards on the ground.
Murray's injury history is something to be concerned about if you're a Cowboys fan. He missed 11 games through his first three seasons in the NFL, and any extended absence would dramatically hurt Dallas' playoff chances.
More details to follow as they come.
