Fox Cancels ‘Gracepoint’

Fox touted "Gracepoint" as a limited-event series with the potential for a second season. Poor ratings quickly derailed those plans and the show has been officially cancelled, according to TVLine.

"Gracepoint," a remake of the BBC's "Broadchurch," premiered to 4.8 million viewers, and the numbers eventually dropped to 4 million in the series finale on Dec. 11. The show starred David Tennant, who plays a similar role on the original BBC drama, and "Breaking Bad" star Anna Gunn.

Tennant and Gunn starred as detectives investigating the murder of a young boy in a California seaside town. The show also starred Michael Peña, Virginia Kull, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver and Kevin Rankin.

BBC America will premiere the second season of "Broadchurch" on Feb. 4. Tennant will reprise his role as Det. Alec Hardy opposite Olivia Colman.

Fox announced in November that it would halt production on the hospital dramedy "Red Band Society" after 13 episodes. The network has aired 10 episodes so far, but has not announced when it will broadcast the final three. The comedy "Mulaney" also had its episode order cut with not much chance for a second season.

New show "Gotham," the "Batman" prequel series, has received the only full 22-episode season order from Fox.
