Miley Cyrus’ parents, Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus, tried to fight through difficulties in their marriage. However, it seems they were not able to make it to the other side. Tish filed for divorced Thursday, according to US Weekly.
"This is a personal matter and we are working to find a resolution that is in the best interest of our family," Tish told the magazine in a statement. "We ask that you respect our privacy at this time."
Tish said “irreconcilable differences” were the cause for filing for divorce, according to TMZ. She wants full custody of their 13-yaer old son Noah. Miley’s mother also wants spousal support and attorney’s fees, said reports.
This is not the first public riff the couple has had. Billy Ray filed for divorce back in October 2010. However, he chose an attempt at reconciliation, and dropped the suit in March 2011.
"I've dropped the divorce," he said while on the talk show “The View.”"I want to put my family back together -- Things are the best they've ever been."
The 20-year old Miley and her two brothers—19-year old Braison and 13-year old Noah—make up the three children Bill Ray and TIsh have together. Tish also has children from a past relationship—24-year old Trace and 26-year old Brandi—whom Billy Ray adopted.
Fans and Critics are buzzing over a tweet Miley sent to her father Thursday that may have to do with the divorce:
@billyraycyrus since your text and email obviously aren't working would you like to talk like this?
The two were estranged for a little while in 2011 but according to Billy Ray they are now on good terms.
"I like right now just being her daddy and her friend. I like where our relationship is at right now," he recently told E! News. "I'm very proud of her."
Miley has enjoyed a bit of resurgence since her days on Disney’s “Hannah Montana” and recently released her new single “We Can’t Stop.”
