The latest threat from the "Guardians of Peace," the group claiming responsibility for the Sony hack, has Seth Rogen and James Franco thinking twice about the promotion schedule for their upcoming film "The Interview."
Rogen and Franco have pulled out of all scheduled press appearances on Tuesday and Wednesday before the New York premiere at the Sunshine Cinema on Thursday, according to BuzzFeed News. They cancelled appearances on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live," NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," as well as interviews with Yahoo and BuzzFeed Brews.
"No press today or tomorrow, will reassess Thursday," a representative for Rogen told The Hollywood Reporter.
The "Guardians" released their promised "Christmas gift" of files in an eighth round of Sony leaks. The leak also included a threat of a 9/11-type attack when "The Interview" premieres on Christmas Day.
"The world will be full of fear," the message reads. "Remember the 11th of September 2001. We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time. (If your house is nearby, you'd better leave.) Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment."
The Department of Homeland Security has not found the threat credible as of Tuesday afternoon, according to TMZ.
"We are still analyzing the credibility of these statements, but at this time there is no credible intelligence to indicate an active plot against movie theaters within the United States," a DHS official told TMZ. He added the typical precautionary warning, "If you see something, say something."
"The Interview" premiere could face last-minute changes due to security concerns, a source told The Hollywood Reporter.
Rogen and Franco took part in a SiriusXM "Town Hall" event on Tuesday and Rogen appeared on "The Colbert Report" on Monday night, both in New York.
