The developer of cyberpunk fantasy role-playing game "Shadowrun Returns," Harebrained Schemes, is hinting at a new "Shadowrun" project. On Kickstarter, the company teases, "Shadowrun returns to Kickstarter January 2015," and it sent a tantalizing message to their backers that was just the graphic above.
Harebrained Schemes doesn't offer much beyond the potential of something new for the "Shadowrun" universe, but a sequel or expansion seems quite likely. The developer's "Shadowrun Returns," released in 2013, was well-received by critics and players.
Beyond all that, "Shadowrun Returns" was a standout Kickstarter success. Harebrained Schemes raised more than $1.8 million through a Kickstarter campaign in 2012, and released the game on a variety of PC and mobile platforms in 2013. The developer released an expansion, "Dragonfall," and the stand-alone "Shadowrun: Dragonfall Director's Cut" in 2014.
HNGN has reached out to Harebrained Schemes to see what it has planned for its return to Kickstarter...and will update this article accordingly if and/or when they get back us. Personally, I'm hoping for something more robust than just an add-on here, and if HBS is going to these lengths to tease its fans and backers, I have a feeling that something special is in the works for Shadowrunners everywhere.
