The gloves were off on Twitter Wednesday when Donald J Trump and Danny Zuker, the writer and executive producer of "Modern Family" took swipes at each other - yet again. Trump and Zuker have been at odds for quite some time. Reportedly the tiff started since the former made fun of Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice" show, and the venom has spewed on to the social network.
On Wednesday, Trump tweeted: "I've been warning about China since as early as the 80's. No one wanted to listen. Now our country is in real trouble." Zuker retaliated, "@realDonaldTrump You've always been tough on China, sir. Particularly the children who make your shitty clothes."
A few insults like "loser" and "lightweight" from Trump's end and "your insults need work" from Zuker later, the sparring got down to "Modern Family". "Just tried watching Modern Family - written by a moron, really boring. Writer has the mind of a very dumb and backward child. Sorry Danny!" tweeted Trump. "@realDonaldTrump Doesn't like the show I work on but then we've never tested well with the racist, hypocritical, multiple bankruptcy demo," replied Zuker. A few more back-and-forth tweets later, the writers ended the feud for the night, "Bye for now, @realDonaldTrump. I have a busy night of not grandstanding to put the wrong people to death in the Central Park Mugging case."
In an interview with Buzzfeed in May, Zuker explained why he's needling Trump. "If you have any sense at all on the East Coast, even before all this, you always hated the guy, he was this arrogant bullshitter," said the New Jersey native. "But worse than that, he was a bully. And you always saw him bullying and you could always count on being right if you simply went against what he said." Zuker was thrilled when Trump started responding. "I wanted to poke that bear. Because frankly I've watched him attack people on Twitter who have real jobs and so their skill-set isn't punching him back verbally in 140 characters."
Trump told Buzzfeed that he has contended with far worse on Twitter and appreciates comedy sent in his direction.
