When Hayden Panettiere and her heavyweight boxer fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko, welcomed their first child - a daughter - into the world Dec. 9, the die was cast: this baby girl will not grow up to be a wimpy woman.
The 26-year-old actress, who plays Juliette Barnes on the ABC hit show "Nashville," plans to raise a daughter who will grow up to be strong.
Even before Kaya Evdokia Klitschko was born, weighing in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces and measuring 20 inches, Panettiere was ready for her daughter to make her entrance, and she also announced that she is ready, willing and able to raise her daughter in a way that would empower her.
"I'm thrilled that I am having a girl first," she declared at the Emmy Awards in August, "because I feel like I know a lot about raising a strong woman."
"I feel very empowered myself and I think my daughter will, too."
Panettiere definitely sounds like a committed mom - and an incredibly strong woman herself.
"Motherhood is the most beautiful, exciting thing, and there's nothing that I feel like I can't accomplish while having children in my life," she recently acknowledged. "I would sacrifice having more years of being wherever I want whenever I want for years with my kids."
As to her relationship with Klitschko, she said, "We are over the moon and madly in love!"
The couple were introduced by friends in 2008, and dated for three years before breaking up because of their conflicting schedules, according to Hello Magazine.
In 2013, they reconnected.
The 6 foot 6 inch athlete has a demanding career of his own. Klitschko, 38, is the second-longest reigning heavyweight champion of all time and earned $24 million in 2013, according to Forbes Magazine.
Sounds like he could also contribute to little Kaya growing up to be a strong woman.
