Nest has updated its smart thermostat by giving people the ability to use their voice to control the device.
Voice command is now available thanks to Nest's integration with Google Now, which allows users to tell the device to change the temperature in the house, according to TechCrunch. The feature currently only works on Android devices through the Google app.
Google Now is also introducing a Now Card that shows up whenever Nest automatically changes settings, such as raising the temperature before you come home from work.
The addition of voice command follows Google's purchase of parent company Nest Labs for $3.2 billion in January, Mashable reported.
The thermostat was introduced as a smart household device that learns the user's habits and adjusts the house's temperature automatically to fit their preferences. With voice command, users can speak into their phones and say the temperature they want their house set at, and the app will change it accordingly.
Meanwhile, Google has set up the Works With Nest platform that more than 4,000 developers have so far entered to see if Nest works with other smart products, Mashable reported. The program opens up the possibility for people to use the thermostat to control other smart devices in their homes.
