People have been talking a lot about the Apple's new iOS 7 this week. The company unveiled its new redesign to the operating system on Monday during its keynote address at the World Wide Developer's Conference. Insiders have been analyzing all of the features Apple presented to the public during the address but, what about the features Apple didn't present?
Now that the first wave of beta versions for Apple's iOS 7 have been made available to registered developers to test, new features have been discovered by iPhone users who weren't responsible for designing it and are just fans of the device. By playing with what features matter to them, some new noteworthy functions have come to light.
The International Business Times reports, among the newly-discovered features is that the FaceTime camera can redeem a code from an iTunes Gift Card simply by scanning it. This feature has been available on Macs for a while now, but beta tester Beau Giles tweeted a reveal showing the company is brining this feature to all of its mobile devices with iOS 7. Users can simply open the Apple Store and tap the "Redeem" option to scan the card.
Another new feature, reported by 9to5Mac is the ability to zoom with the video camera. After hitting the red "record" button, users can use the standard pinch motion to zoom in that they've been able to use in the still camera function to zoom.
Apple announced some changes to the Notification Center at the World Wide Developer's Conference keynote but, they neglected to mention the "Today" feature, which allows users to see information on their calendar and frequently visited locations, offering the most relevant information. The notification center has always shown the weather but it has not taken into account your commute giving weather and traffic updates and estimating your likely commute time.
The company also mentioned that Siri would have more system controls but wasn't specific as to what those were. Now, beta testers know that it is Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Airpane Mode, brightness and the new, non-third party flashlight. All of these are available with a simple voice command. It will also be able to integrate the new iTunes Radio as well.
