'Daredevil': Marvel Studios Releases Two New Set Pics (SEE IT)

It's been some time since we've heard anything new on Marvel Studio's upcoming "Daredevil" series for Netflix, but the studio finally broke the silence this week with two new production stills.

The images, which debuted in this week's Entertainment Weekly, feature series star Charlie Cox in costume as Daredevil and in civilian garb as Matt Murdock. The costume, a simple black uniform and mask, is designed after John Romita Jr.'s ninja-styled outfit that Matt Murdock wore in Marvel Comics' "Man Without Fear" storyline. The Netflix "Daredevil" series is going to draw heavily from that origin tale, which tracked Matt's evolution into the red-costumed vigilante that we all know and love.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel TV exec and comic legend Jeph Loeb said the show will definitely be a crime drama first, and the superheroics take a backseat. (Akin to Fox's "Gotham," but hopefully with less good cop/bad cop nonsense.) What many fans are clamoring to know is how "adult" this content will be, particularly with "Spartacus" creator Stephen S. DeKnight at the helm. Here's how DeKnight phrased it: "It's a little grittier and edgier than Marvel has gone before, but we're not looking to push it to extreme violence or gratuitous nudity."

While a solid release date has still not been announced, "Daredevil's" entire first season is expected to hit Netflix in the first half of 2015. Thanks to Cinema Blend for the heads up.
