'Constantine': NBC Changing DCU Show's Time Slot, Giving It a (Better) Shot at Renewal

A curious post on the "Constantine" Facebook page this evening has fans of the show all aflutter. It seems that NBC, in its infinite wisdom, is moving the show up a couple hours to 8 p.m. EST when it returns from hiatus on Jan. 16. Check out the actual Facebook post below:

It would seem that NBC is going to test the show out at that infinitely more desirable time slot to see if the last five episodes will get the ratings jump it needs to be seriously considered for renewal.

Fans of the show, who are bandying about the #SaveConstantine hashtag, had many delighted, insightful, and positive comments to share, such as:

"YES!! This means the show is still alive!! Huge jump in quality over the last few episodes #SaveConstantine"

"The problem isn't the time per say (sic) it's the day, Friday is tough for people to watch a TV show. It should be on Thursdays, giving us DC shows Monday through Thursday. NBC needs to recognize that."

"As long as it's returning. And hopefully bring Swamp Thing and Dr. Fate in an episode or two"

"Just keep the dark edge. 8 o'clock means some family friendly fare. That'll kill this show quicker than a 10 o'clock time slot!"

"When this show was first announced, I made the joke that I was going to enjoy all half a season of it. I figured with NBC's reputation for killing sci/fi, fantasy, and horror shows, this show would be at the top of their must-kill-as-soon-as-possible list. The fact that they put it on at 10pm on a Friday (aka, the Let's-kill-this-show-as-fast-as-possible, time slot) only reinforced this to me. I'm very happy to be wrong in this case."

The show is well-done and has a good amount of room to grow...if given a proper chance. Hopefully, this change in time slots does indeed mean that NBC is going to give it some room to spread its (demonic?) wings.
