Ryan Murphy has found his Robert Kardashian. The "Glee" creator has slowly been adding to the cast of his upcoming anthology series "American Crime Story" and cast David Schwimmer ("Friends") to play the lawyer of O.J. Simpson, USA Today reports.
The first season of the FX series is subtitled "The People v. O.J. Simpson" and will tell the story of the former football player's 1994 trial for the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman.
It will focus on what it was like for the lawyers: the overconfident prosecution and the defense team that was able to convince the jury of a reasonable doubt.
"'American Crime Story' explores how a combination of prosecution overconfidence, defense shrewdness and the (Los Angeles Police Department's) history with the city's African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt," a press release read.
"American Horror Story" actress Sarah Paulson has signed on to play prosecutor Marcia Clark. She currently stars on Murphy's "AHS: Freak Show." It was previously announced that Cuba Gooding Jr. will play Simpson.
The series is based on the book, "The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson," by Jeffrey Toobin. Production is scheduled to begin next year in Los Angeles with the show premiering later on. FX has not announced an official release date.
