Disney World to Start Accepting Apple Pay This Week

Walt Disney World announced Sunday that it will provide support for the Apple Pay digital payment service to its resort starting Wednesday.

The move is the most recent made by the entertainment giant to give people more options to buy items with their phones, according to CNET. The company's MyMagic+ program allows park goers to use wearable MagicBands for different purposes, such as buying food and merchandise, entering theme parks and opening the door to their Disney hotel room.

The announcement follows two months after Disney was listed as one of Apple Pay's initial partners, expecting all of its stores to support the payment system by Christmas.

WDW said the app will initially be available at quick service restaurants, bars and ticket booths, and later on table service restaurants and other locations that use portable payment terminals.

Apply Pay debuted in September and launched in late October, giving iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users the chance to buy products just by tapping their mobile devices, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Support for the service is expected to be included in the upcoming Apple Watch.

Apple's digital payment service is the only one that will be made available at Disney World's parks this week, with others including Google Wallet and Softcard. Disney World is also the latest company to start using Apple Pay. These businesses include American Eagle, Foot Locker, McDonald's, Macy's, Subway, Texaco, Whole Foods Markets, Walgreens, Toys R Us and Sports Authority.
