Keurig is recalling more than 7.2 million Keurig Mini Plus Brewing Systems after at least 200 customers reported the machines spray hot liquid and cause injuries, according to Reuters.
The models affected are K10 or B31 with an ID number that starts with 31, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reported. The models in the recall were manufactured from December 2009 to July 2014.
Users began to complain about burn-related injuries due to the brewer's overheating issue, according to CNET.com. Out of the 7 million Mini Plus Brewing Systems recalled, 6.6 million were sold in the U.S. and 564,000 were sold in Canada.
The company is issuing free repairs to any customer who contacts them with a complaint, and said they are working on fixing the issue which affects five years worth of Mini Brewing systems, Reuters reported. About 90 of the 200 complaints were customers who had been burned by spurting hot liquid.
For now, the company told customers to keep an arm's length away from the brewers and not brew more than two cups in quick succession. The mini brewers prepare hot beverages such as coffee, tea and cocoa.
Each Mini Brewing system was sold for about $100 online and at stores across the country, including Kmart, Kohl's, Target and Walmart, Reuters reported.
The company told the Commission and Health Canada there was a potential issue involving certain Mini Plus brewers in November.
