NBA Trade RUMORS: Mason Plumlee Wanted By Kings, Nets Unwilling To Move Him Even With Deron Williams’s Bad Contract?

The Sacramento Kings, in need of a forward, reportedly sought a trade for Brooklyn Nets second-year player Mason Plumlee. The Kings, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard, were even willing to take back the bad contract of Nets guard Deron Williams.

Sacramento needs an upgrade at the power forward position, and they reportedly reached out to the Nets about the availability of Plumlee.

Per Broussard:

"Talks between the Sacramento Kings and Brooklyn Nets about a trade involving Nets star Deron Williams have cooled, according to league sources.

"Sacramento had recently initiated talks with the Nets, proposing a deal for Williams and second-year forward Mason Plumlee, who was actually the Kings' main target, sources said. With Plumlee struggling and clashing a bit with new Nets coach Lionel Hollins over the first month of the season, the Kings were hoping he might be available. To compel the Nets into moving Plumlee, they considered taking on Williams, whose contract and history of injuries has scared off many clubs.

"Brooklyn, however, has no intention of moving Plumlee, who has surged to average 18 points and 10.2 rebounds over the past six games."

Athough Plumlee doesn't appear to be an option, both Broussard and New York Daily News reported the Kings could restart trade talks with Brooklyn for Williams.

Trading anything significant for the 30-year-old Williams would be a questionable move, though. Williams has a history of ankle injuries, and his averages this season (15.6 ppg, 6.8 apg) are on par with the averages from Kings starting point guard Darren Collison (15.8 ppg, 6.0 apg).

Collison also has a more team-friendly contract: he's due just over $10 million over the next two seasons, whereas Williams is due $21 million next season with a $22 million option on the 2016-17 season.
