It's no secret that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber's on-and-off relationship has been an unstable roller coaster, but a source close to the Disney darling revealed that Gomez is finally trying to get over her former lover.
The 22-year-old singer-actress is trying hard to leave the Canadian star in her past after almost four years together, E! News reported.
However, the process isn't easy because Bieber reportedly contacts Gomez occasionally, and getting a text from the 20-year-old singer can put a damper on Gomez's day.
"It's hard because they have just so much history. It is a process," a source told E! News.
The "Spring Breaker's" actress surrounds herself with a loving family and positive influences, including best friend Taylor Swift, and has become "very active in her church."
Earlier this month, though, Gomez confirmed to NRJ radio that although she still has "so much respect and love" for the singer, she is happy being single and is ready to move forward with her life.
"I support him," she told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM radio show. "I'm upset when he's upset, I'm happy when he's happy. I don't want anything to ever happen to him bad. It hurts me. That's all."
