Former WNBA player Chamique Holdsclaw pled guilty to charges connected to a confrontation she had with her ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lacy, according to TMZ.
The 2000 Olympic gold medalist reportedly pled guilty to "2 counts of aggravated assault, 4 counts of criminal damage, and 1 count of illegal firearm possession."
Holdsclaw will not face any jail time. Instead, she has been sentenced to 120 hours of community service, 3 years of probation, a $3,000 fine, and she is prohibited from possessing any fire arm for the next three years. The basketball star is also prohibited from interacting with the victim.
According to the New York Daily News, Holdsclaw was arrested in 2012 in Atlanta after smashing the windows out of Lacy's car with a baseball bat, and then shooting at the vehicle with a 9-mm pistol. The newspaper reported authorities suspected Holdsclaw poured gasoline on the car and fired the shot in hopes of igniting a fire. Once arrested, she was held on a $10,000 bond.
"I want to thank my family, friends, fans, and Shock family for their concern during this difficult time,"Holdsclaw said in a statement after the arrest. "I have never felt more love from my fans in supporting me."
Holdsclaw revealed to the world in her autobiography entitled Breaking Through: Beating The Odds Shot After Shot that she suffered from depression and often thoughts of committing suicide.
"I was so tired of always having to be the strong one,"she wrote. "My grandmother was gone now, and I wanted nothing more than to be with her."
No reports confirm Holdsclaw's battle with depression as a motive for the 2012 arrest.
Holdsclaw retired from the WNBA in 2010.
