A Wisconsin teenager suffering from a rare, life-threatening illness received a heart-warming surprise during a police traffic stop, Fox 6 Now reported.
A Saukville police officer stopped 17-year-old Audra Daniloff near her home and said she rolled through a stop sign and that he would have to give her two tickets. But little did Audra know the stop was setup by her father Marc.
"I got some good news and some bad news for you, okay?" Saukville Police Chief Jeffrey Goetz said in a video of the Nov. 21 surprise, which the father published on Tuesday.
"The bad news, first I am giving you two tickets. But they are not the type of tickets you think. One is a plane ticket to New York.
"The other is a concert ticket for your favorite band" Timeflies.
In 2013, Audra was diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, HLH, a rare illness where the body's immune system becomes overstimulated. The result causes damage to organs and tissues, including the liver, brain and bone marrow.
Doctors gave Audra a 20 percent chance of survival. She was released after spending 58 days at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, but she still has to return for repeated infusion treatments, Fox 6 Now reported.
Marc wanted to do something to cheer his daughter up after all she went through.
"I completely blindsided her thanks to the wonderful help of the Saukville Police Department," Marc told the station.
Officer Goetz said he thought the father's surprise was a "great idea."
"[Marc] had given me a little back story on what his daughter had been through, and thought that this concert would make her day if she got to go to New York- and we were happy to be a part of that."
As for Audra, the surprise worked and she got to see Timeflies in New York. She also got to meet the band members.
"You're my favorite cop in the entire world," Audra told the officer when he gave her the tickets. "Oh my god, thank you so much!"
