A private jet transporting former President George W. Bush from Philadelphia to Dallas was diverted to Louisville, Ky. Saturday night after the pilots reported smelling smoke on board, according to reports.
"The flight President Bush was on was diverted to Louisville, and after a brief stop there we made it home safely to Dallas late last night," Bush spokesman Freddy Ford said in a statement, according to ABC News.
The Gulfstream IV aircraft was traveling from Philadelphia International to Dallas Love Field airports when the pilot reported the smell of smoke in the cockpit, said Holly Baker, spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane landed at 8:46 p.m. It's uncertain what caused the alarm or what happened once on the ground, but Bush's office in Dallas told News 8 that the president continued his trip back to Texas aboard the same aircraft.
The private jet was supposed to land in Dallas Love Field from Philadelphia, Holly Baker, spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, told the site.
FAA spokeswoman Holly Baker said the Gulfstream 4 declared an emergency due to the "smell of smoke in the cockpit" and landed without incident. She didn't elaborate.
