A mother in Pennsylvania welcomed triplets on Christmas day, making the holiday even more magical, ABC News reported on Friday.
Courtney Stash, 25, wasn't due until February, but went into labor on Dec. 20. Doctors tried to push her birth back, but babies Claire, Averee and Eoin were well on their way and were born at 10:35 a.m., the hospital said in a statement.
They weighed in at 3 pounds, 8 ounces, 3 pounds, 10 ounces and 4 pounds, 4 ounces, respectively, Pennlive reported.
Triplets are born between 30 and 32 weeks usually. The triplets were born at 31.6 weeks. The couple found out they were expecting triplets a month and a half into the pregnancy. The chance of having such a pregnancy is rare: only 124 per 100,000 births.
"When we found out at the ultrasound, all I could say was, 'What are we going to do?'" father Justin Dwyer said. "Courtney was all calm. She was saying, 'Is it cold outside? And all I kept saying was, 'What are we going to do?' Then she'd say, 'Can you remember to bring home some milk tonight?'"
Stash is also a mother to two other children, ages five and two. The new additions will live in the couple's master bedroom with their parents.
"I have been so humbled by the generosity of everyone," Dwyer said. "I've had people I don't even know offer clothes, diapers, whatever."
