Playstation 4: Worldwide Sales Numbers Show Sony Console Still in the Lead for November

While video game hardware sales are big in November, December still has always been the biggest month in terms of overall sales. The November 2014 worldwide hardware sales are now tallied, so let's take a quick glimpse at how well each platform sold.

According to VGChartz, the PlayStation 4 was the top selling console of the month selling 2,570,514 units. Xbox One sales have lagged good deal behind the PlayStation 4 for almost all of the year, but Microsoft has taken some pretty significant strides to close the gap. Microsoft was able to sell 2,266,106 Xbox One consoles for the month. Close...but not quite enough to catch the PlayStation 4 as of yet.

The other eighth generation home console, the Wii U, sold only 521,187 units for the month of November. That is less than a quarter of its Microsoft and Sony rivals.

Taking a look at the eighth generation handhelds, the 3DS outsold the PlayStation Vita by more than seven times. Nintendo managed to sell 1,472,870 3DS' for the month, while Sony only managed to sell 197,844 PlayStation Vita's.

Finally, there are the sales for the last generation of home consoles. Sales for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were close to the same. The Xbox 360 sold 439,997 units, while the PlayStation 3 sold 402,233 units. Nintendo's Wii brings up the rear once again selling just 106,080 units.
