In a new sneak peek for the seventh season of "The Mentalist" (courtesy of TV Line), Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) discuss the idea of Jane leaving the FBI. In May it was announced that this would be the final season of the CBS show, so does that mean Jane could be saying goodbye to the FBI for good? And will he convince Lisbon to do the same?
In Sunday's episode, titled "The Silver Briefcase," fans will also see Jane tackle a new case when he runs into a military colonel he believes is hiding something. Because Jane doesn't trust the colonel, he reopens a closed murder case of the man's wife. The episode airs Sunday, Dec. 28.
TV Line previously reported on the series ending and said that Jane and Lisbon will be investigating a dangerous new serial killer.
"The CBS drama will conclude its seven-season run with a two-part episode that revolves around a menacing new serial killer who goes by the name 'Lazarus.' An exterminator by trade, Lazzie (as I call him) conceals psychopathic tendencies underneath his unprepossessing exterior," TV Line wrote.
The Lazarus story will unfold over two episodes: "Brown Shag Carpet" (episode 12) and "White Orchids" (episode 13). Both will air on the same night in February for the series finale. According to "The Mentalist" wikia page, the following is official descriptions of episodes 6 and 7.
"Green Light"- The team is brought in to consult on a botched DEA raid, but when Abbot's former boss tries to blackmail him into keeping the agency's missteps quiet, Abbot is forced to choose between his career and his morals.
"Little Yellow House"- A murder investigation becomes personal for Lisbon when she learns that her underachieving younger brother, Jimmy, is being sought as a key witness.
