Mega-selling newcomer Sam Smith revealed that his goal this holiday season is to do whatever is necessary to sidestep any family fights. So, he's jetting from his home in England to Australia to dodge any family storms.
This year, Smith said that he will be on "the other side of the world" for New Year's Eve so that he can avoid the family rows that have happened ''every year for 10 years,'" contactmusic.com reported.
The "Stay With Me" singer explained: ''I have argued with my family every New Year's Eve for 10 years. So I'm going to travel to the other side of the world and strap myself to a tree so I can't argue with anyone.
''It's not huge arguments, but when all my family drink a bit and you've been together for 10 days over Christmas, at the end you all start arguing. It's just like any family.''
Smith's debut album, "In The Lonely Hour," has sold more than one million copies in both the U.K. and the U.S. - making the 22-year-old the only artist in the world to accomplish that remarkable feat this year, The Independent reported.
Smith's record is the second album to hit one million sales in the U.K. in 2014, after Ed Sheeran's "X" did so last month.
