The bodies of two snowmobilers in Montana have been found after they drowned from falling through a sheet of ice while trying to get across the Seeley Lake, CBS News reported.
One of the people from the party called emergency personnel saying that five sledders had gotten into a dangerous situation while crossing the ice. One of the snowmobilers was able to be pulled from the water when his friend was able to get across the ice on his stomach, thus reaching his friend and pulling him to safety. They were taken to a hospital to be treated for hypothermia.
Until now, no one was able to find the last two members on the surface of the water. No names have been released at this time, USA Today reported.
Helicopters were flown over the area, and by 10 p.m. on Friday rescue crews had located the bodies. It was confirmed they had died after falling through the ice.
What happened exactly is still being investigated, including the ice conditions that existed during the time the party attempted to cross the lake.
