Missing Cruise Workers Body Washes Up On Florida Beach

The body of a missing cruise worker washed up on a Clearwater, Florida, beach on Friday morning, according to The Daily Mail.

Cliford B. Minej, 27, had gone missing sometime last week after officials believe he either jumped, or fell off the Holland America Line cruise ship called Ryndam that he worked on, the Daily Mail reported.

The ship he fell or jumped from came to port in Tampa on Sunday after a 14-day Caribbean cruise, according to the Daily Mail.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our crew members and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time," Cruise operator, Holland America Line, said in a statement, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Minej was from Thane, India, and was found by a person walking along the beach area around the Gulf Boulevard near Sand Key in Clearwater, according to the Daily Mail. The Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death accidental.

The Coast Guard had been searching Tampa Bay-area waters, about 20 miles from Clearwater, after Minej went missing near Egmont Key, a Florida state park, the Daily Mail reported.

According to a United States Coast Guard spokeswoman, Minej was last seen on the ship around 3 a.m. when the ship was near Egmont Key, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

The U.S. Coast Guard did not know if Minej had fallen into the ocean, or had disembarked at the cruise terminal because the ship's captain did not notify authorities of his disappearance until 8 a.m. when the ship docked, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
