Kim Kardashian Baby: Dr. Oz Advises New Mom After Premature Birth

Despite the joyous news of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's baby girl, there is one person is who urging the couple to be cautious.

According to US Weekly, when they spoke to Dr. Mehmet Oz, he explained that the couple should be vigilant since their daughter was born five weeks prematurely. A child is considered premature if they are born before 37 weeks and the couple's child was born two weeks prior to that.

"I've been following Kim's story, which I have a personal interest in aside from being a doctor," said the host of "The Dr. Oz Show." "Our youngest child [Oliver] was born five weeks premature. So I know how hair-raising that is, and the most important thing to recognize is today, we can actually get kids to survive almost always, but if you don't manage them really well early on, they can grow up to develop all kinds of issues."

Dr. Oz shared his own personal stories involving his son Oliver who was born premature. He explained how they took him home after two days but when they got him home "he would turn blue and pass out, which would scare me. And I'm a doctor, so maybe they let him to my care [early], but it's a little nerve-wracking.

"It's sacred, those first few months, for all babies but especially for the premature," he said. "It's a sacred time. They should focus on the child."

Kardashian gave birth to a baby girl on June 15. Both baby and mom are reportedly doing well. The couple will apparently be naming their daughter with a K and grandmother Kris Jenner is hopeful that more information of the baby will be released shortly.
