Michigan Man, 86, Mysteriously Vanishes After Winning Lottery

The search is on for an 86-year-old Michigan man who disappeared after winning the lottery, CBS Detroit reported.

Arthur Neal Jr. was last seen at his Detroit home on Dec. 20, not long after he reportedly won a nearly $20,000 lottery. The door to his home was left open and inside was a mess, his granddaughter, Lawanda Marshall, told the station.

Marshall fears news of the lottery win could be linked to his disappearance. He would not just willingly leave without a trace because of the money, she told CBS Detroit. She is not sure how many people knew about the winnings.

"It bothers me greatly because I don't think that's the type of information that should have seeped out - if that was the case - especially that neighborhood in which he was staying," Marshall told the station.

Neal, who still works in masonry, is described as a 5-foot-7-inch tall black man with gray hair who weighs 160 pounds. He owns a 1998 black Cadillac Deville with Michigan plates.

"He has very good physical health and mental health," Marshall told MLive. Neal is "not your typical old man at all."

Detroit investigators urge anyone with information about Neal's whereabouts to call police at (313) 596-5640.
