Heading into Monday's bowl game, one of the things to watch will be how Clemson's stingy defense plays against Oklahoma's high-scoring offense. Two stats to look at: Only one of Clemson's last eight opponents has scored more than 20 points while Oklahoma's offense has scored less than 30 points only once this season, according to ESPN.
"It's awesome knowing you can go out there against the No. 1 defense and knowing that you can compete," Sooners tight end Blake Bell told the team website, via ESPN. "We see our offense as a top in the country too, and just to be able to go out there and play against them, it's going to be fun."
While Sooners quarterback Trevor Knight - he's expected to play Monday after missing three games because of a neck injury - has been solid with 2,197 passing yards and 14 touchdowns, the team's offense has been powered behind running back Samaje Perine's 1,579 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.
The Tigers' defense will have its hands full trying to contain Perine, but they'll also need their offense to be productive when on the field. Senior quarterback Cole Stoudt will start Monday in place of Deshaun Watson, who's recovering from knee surgery.
"We have full confidence in our offense and their abilities," Clemson defensive tackle Grady Jarrett said. "They just got to handle their adversity and they're going to do fine, but we're going to continue to do our part and do what we've been doing all year and try to put a strong finish on our season."
Clemson is 9-3, and Oklahoma is 8-4.
