OK, it seems like there are a gazillion covers, medleys and mashups of Taylor Swift songs flooding the internet. So, when one of those creative endeavors catches the attention of Swift herself, that's pretty amazing. And when that same endeavor gets an enthusiastic two thumbs up from the pop star, that goes beyond amazing to downright incredible.
A mash-up of Swift's "Blank Space" and "Style" - both standouts from her mega-selling "1989" album - was crafted by Nashville singer-songwriter Louisa Wendorff and her singer pal Devin Dawson. Then the talented duo created a beautiful video of the mashup. The new folk-driven rendition of Taylor's two songs adds a new layer to each song's lyrical dynamics. The singer-songwriters even swap the he/she lines of the track for an even cooler perspective, reports popdust.com.
Swift saw the mashup video and shared it with her legion of followers. In sharing the video, the superstar simply wrote: "OBSESSED"
Check out the video of the mashup that has Swift "obsessed" here:
Powered by Swift's acknowledgement and the star's sharing of Wendorff's latest creation, the response to the video has been remarkable.
"I've been happy dancing all day and FREAKING OUT!! so overwhelmed by this. THANK YOU GUYS for getting taylor's attention!! so blessed," the singer shared on Facebook over the weekend. She later exclaimed, "This. is. wild."
On her website, she added, "Blown away. Speechless. In a dream. I can't even begin to express my thanks to Taylor Swift for tweeting out our video..."
Wendorff had previously posted her own covers of Sam Smith, Beyonce and Ed Sheeran songs. Now the aspiring star has hit the Swift mashup out of the proverbial ball park!
And for her growing fan base, Wendorff added, "Stoked to bring you all some new original material in 2015!"
