NFL Rumors: Washington Redskins Trading Kirk Cousins to Cleveland Browns?

Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins hasn't demanded a trade, but he has made it known he'd like to play elsewhere if he isn't named the starter next season. As a result, the 26-year-old signal caller could be dealt sometime in the offseason.

If the Redskins do commit to such a deal, the Cleveland Browns are a likely landing spot for Cousins.

"I would expect Cousins to be the top target when the Browns go quarterback hunting once again in 2015," Browns beat reporter Tony Grossi wrote.

Cleveland reportedly tried to acquire Cousins last season for a fourth-round pick, and Washington wanted a second-rounder. Ultimately, no deal could be reached, but the Browns are more desperate this time around. Brian Hoyer wasn't able to hold on to the starting gig this season, and rookie first-rounder Johnny Manziel didn't exactly impress in his brief stint. The franchise apparently has concerns over Manziel's maturity and work ethic as well.

Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was with the Redskins when they drafted Cousins in 2012. The familiarity there could prove beneficial if trade talks advance. The teams cannot complete a deal until the league year starts in March.

Cousins has shown flashes of competence mixed with a propensity for turnovers. In six games this season, Cousins has thrown for over 280 yards three times. He's also thrown nine picks in that time frame.

The Redskins would be lucky to receive a fourth-round pick for Cousins at this point.
