Taylor Swift Tops ‘Celebs Gone Good’ Charitable Celebrities List

Taylor Swift became an official New Yorker this past spring and wasted no time giving back to her new hometown.

Swift announced in October that she would donate all the proceeds from her single "Welcome to New York" to New York City Public Schools. She also embraced her feminist side with the guidance of her friend and fellow New Yorker Lena Dunham.

The "Blank Space" singer's philanthropic efforts helped land her atop the 2014 Celebs Gone Good list by DoSomething.org.

Laverne Cox followed in second thanks to her leadership in the transgender community. The "Orange Is the New Black" star became the first transgender person nominated for an Emmy award for her role on the Netflix series and landed the cover of Time magazine in May.

Ladies dominated the first five spots on the Celebs Gone Good List. Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus came in third and fourth thanks to their service for the homeless communities. Queen Bey and fifth-place finalist Emma Watson also ushered in a new wave of feminism: Beyoncé with her MTV Video Music Awards performance and Watson with her speech at the United Nations.

The One Direction boys made the list at No. 6 thanks to raising $341,869 for Stand Up To Cancer. Former WWE champ John Cena came in seventh for serving as the Grand Marshal for the 2014 Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure. He's also granted more than 400 wishes over the years for the Make-A-Wish foundation.

DoSomething.org helps young people find charity organizations and volunteer opportunities. The organization sponsors the publicly voted list that also takes into account the celebrities' STARmeter ranking on Internet Movie Database and the advice from the Celebs Gone Good Advisory Committee.
