A 2-year-old boy in Idaho accidentally killed his mother when he reached into her purse at a Wal-Mart and her concealed gun went off, the Chicago Tribune reported on Monday.
Stu Miller, the Kootenai County sheriff's spokesman, said the shooting was an accident and occurred at the retail giant just 40 miles northwest of Spokane, Wash.
The woman's identity has not been released, but she had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, Time reported. The Wal-Mart closed temporarily after her death.
In a similar incident in November, a 3-year-old boy shot and killed his mother while she was changing the diaper of a younger child. The toddler was able to retrieve the loaded handgun from a table or near the couch, the Independent reported.
In Washington, a 3-year-old boy was shot and critically injured by his 4-year-old neighbor while they were playing with a gun. It was not clear who owned the weapon and if it was left unattended or not.
