Katy Perry is known for many of her romances but in a new interview, the singer opens up and reveals details to some of her most intimate relationships.
According to Vogue, who sat down with the singer, revealed details behind her marriage to Russell Brand.
"He's a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him," Perry said. "Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011."
Perry and Brand began dating in 2009 before getting married in 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony in India. After 14 months of marriage, Brand filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
The singer revealed that Brand's humor was what attracted her to the comedian, but even that got out of hand.
"Hysterical in some ways," the 28-year old said. "Until he started making jokes about me and he didn't know I was in the audience, because I had come to surprise him at one of his shows."
However, Perry won't blame Brand for the failed marriage, " (I) claim my own responsibility in things."
Conflict had emerged between the two of them as well, especially when Perry embarked on her California Dreams tour.
"At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they're like, I can't handle the equalness," she said. "He didn't like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting."
Since then, the singer has most recently been seen in a relationship with John Mayer who she claims to have been "madly in love with him." The couple recently broke up in March.
Perry is currently in the studio working on her fourth studio album.
