Delta Flight Diverted After Pregnant Woman Goes Into Labor

A domestic Delta Airlines flight was diverted to Utah on Wednesday after a pregnant woman went into labor aboard the plane, the Associated Press reported.

The flight took off from San Francisco, California, shortly before 7 a.m. PST and was headed for Minnesota when the woman apparently went into labor, Salt Lake City International Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann told the AP.

Gann said a pediatrician onboard was able to help the unnamed woman until the plane made its emergency landing in Salt Lake City at around 10 a.m., local time.

She was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but her condition has not been made available. The flight was able to continue towards its destination to Minneapolis, Minnesota, the AP reported.

The Wednesday incident comes less than a month after another woman went into labor and ended up giving birth on a Southwest Airlines flight to Arizona, NBC Bay Area reported.

The Dec. 9 flight from California was diverted to another airport in the same state after the woman went into labor. Luckily, a doctor and nurse who were also onboard were able to help deliver the baby.
