Police Shooting In West Virginia: Alleged Cop Shooters Were Transporting Two Dead Bodies In A Stolen Pickup Truck

Two men, only identified as a father and son, were arrested after opening fire on police in West Virginia. Two dead bodies were later discovered under a mattress in the bed of the duo's pickup truck, according to NBC affiliate WVVA.

Police in Texas, North Carolina and West Virginia are working together to determine if the bodies discovered are a missing couple from Granville County, North Carolina.

"Granville County Sheriff Brindell B. Wilkins Jr. said Jerome Faulkner, 73, and his wife Dora, 62, were at their home near Oak Hill when two men entered around 7 a.m. The men reportedly set the couples house on fire and then stole their red Chevy pickup truck," according to NBC affiliate WNCN in Raleigh.

On Thursday afternoon, police from Lewisburg, WV pulled over a white Chevrolet Suburban at about 4 p.m., according to The Register-Herald, when a red pickup also pulled up. The driver began shooting at police.

Two officers were injured. One of the officers shot back and wounded the shooter, the father, in the leg.

Both father and son have been arrested for malicious assault and attempted murder of a police officer in Greenbrier County.
