With in-home entertainment becoming more and more lucrative, getting people to go out to the movies is becoming difficult. In an effort to generate excitement for its upcoming film "World War Z" starring Brad Pitt, Paramount has joined with Regal Entertainment Group to introduce the first ever "megaticket."
The megaticket costs $50 and entitles fans in the five participating U.S. cities to stream the film online two days prior to its release on June 21. That means Wednesday night, people who have been chomping at the bit to see the new zombie film, based off of the popular book by Max Brooks, can spend a little extra money and say they were among the first to view it.
The package also includes a pair of custom RealD 3-D glasses, an official full-sized limited edition "World War Z" poster and, of course, a small popcorn.
"Regal is pleased to offer this ultimate fan event at five locations in conjunction with our partners at Paramount Pictures," Ken Thewes, chief marking officer for Regal Entertainment Group told NBC News. "The interest and anticipation for Brad Pitt's latest thriller is at a fever pitch and this 'World War Z' mega ticket offers a unique experience for our patrons."
"World War Z" tells the story of a United Nations employee named Gerry Lane as he criss crosses the world in an attempt to find a way to stop the zombie outbreak that has taken over the world causing governments to fall and society to crumble. Below are two trailers for the film released by Paramount.
