Chris Brown Didn’t Cancel New Year’s Eve Concert Because Of ‘Lost’ Passport -- He Did It For Love

When Chris Brown cancelled a New Year's Eve concert in the Philippines at the last minute, the word was put out to fans and the media that the cancellation was due to Brown losing his passport. It now seems that announced "reason" was just so much smoke and mirrors -- and the real reason the r&b singer bailed on his fans was because of his on-again girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

Just hours before he was set to take the stage, the 25-year-old performer tweeted that he would be missing his New Year's Eve performance on Dec. 31 due to "unforeseen circumstances."

Those "unforeseen circumstances" apparently evolved from Brown's recoupling with Tran.

"No disrespect to his fans out there, but once he and Karrueche got back together over Christmas, Chris knew he wasn't going to be able to make that venue," a source close to the singer explained to hollywoodlife.com in an exclusive interview.

Even though Tran, 26, wanted the singer to go and fulfill his obligation, the source says he "flat-out" didn't want to.

He then told her, "Some things mean more to me than money and my career and that's you. I want to bring in my New Year with you and that's what the f-k I'm going to do."

After a nasty breakup that involved them taking shots at each other on Instagram, the holiday spirit brought Brown and Tran back together on Christmas Eve in Los Angeles, according to Hollywood Life. So he decided he wanted to ring in 2015 with her.

Brown's 2014 wasn't exactly a banner year. In fact, he spent a lot of time in jail and making court appearances.

"He had more downs that he could count last year and he wanted to bring in the New Year right, with Karrueche...," the source noted.
