A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting outside a New Jersey shore restaurant that left one woman hospitalized for a single bullet wound.
The man-who has not yet been identified by authorities-was arrested at his apartment complex in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
He allegedly fired the first-and only-shot in front of the Sand Bar restaurant in Brielle a bit before one o'clock in the morning.
The woman who got caught in the crossfire has also not yet been identified. She was shot once in the parking lot of a restaurant on the Jersey Shore. Quickly afterward, police arrived on the scene and took her to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for her wounds. She is currently in stable condition.
The restaurant has closed its doors since the shooting-local news site NJ.com reported that the area has been roped off by yellow police tape.
A police official who asked to remain anonymous told the Associated Press that the man who was taken into law enforcement custody in Point Pleasant was, in fact, the one who fired shots at the Sand Bar.
Resident Bud Mayo lives near the housing development where the suspect was arrested on Tuesday. He said that police woke him up at around 4 in the morning, telling him to leave the apartment.
"An Ocean County SWAT team showed up and explained to us that there was a shooting in Brielle at 1 a.m. this morning and that they had tracked the shooter down to one of the residences here," he said.
He also mentioned that he has lived in that same neighborhood for almost 15 years and the alleged shooter has dwelled there just as long.
Mayo said he was a "quiet guy" who was not a member of "the social set in Bay Point Harbor."
"Very quiet, never bothered anybody, and well-liked as far as I can tell," Mayo told NJ.com, speaking of his neighbor. "So I don't know what happened."
