Carrie Underwood’s 'Something In The Water': The Secrets Behind The Chart-Topping Song

Carrie Underwood's latest single, "Something In The Water," has reached No. 1 on the country charts. The secret behind the inspirational song's chart-topping success is Underwood's own impeachable character and, yes, her deep faith.

As one of the song's writers, the "American Idol" winner has never shied away from expressing her Christian beliefs -- and she incorporated those beliefs in "Something in the Water."

The song just topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, after charting for 14 weeks and moving up two spots from last week's position at No. 3. She has also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Digital Songs charts, after charting for 13 weeks, reports digitaljournal.com.

"Something In The Water" is a track from her newest album, "Greatest Hits: Decade #1." The song talks about the importance of baptism and conversion as means to changing your life: "There's somebody saying what I'm saying to you / Opened my eyes and told me truth / He said just a little faith and it'll all get better / So I followed that preacher man down to the river and now I'm changed / And now I'm stronger."

The song ends with Underwood singing a portion of "Amazing Grace."

"It's really kind of a joyous, uplifting song about changing your life for the better and kind of having that 'a-ha' moment, to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward," she said during a recent appearance on the "Today" show.

The superstar doesn't worry that speaking out about her faith will alienate her fans.

"Country music is different. You have that Bible Belt-ness about it," she said in 2012, according to Taste of Country. "I'm not the first person to sing about God, Jesus, faith (or) any of that, and I won't be the last. And it won't be the last for me, either."
