Missing Pennsylvania Student Found In Schuylkill River

A body was pulled from the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia on Saturday that likely belongs to a 21-year-old university student that went missing on Thanksgiving, the New York Daily News reported.

Shane Montgomery, a student at West Chester University near Philadelphia, went missing in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving after leaving a bar in the northwest area of the city.

Montgomery's parents watched the body being taken from the river and said they believe it's their son. A definite identification has not yet been made.

"Today we have done what we promised," Shane's mother, Karen Montgomery, said in a statement, NBC reported. "We found and brought Shane home."

His car keys were found in the river three weeks after he had been reported missing. The body was discovered in the water behind the Manayunk Brewery.

Montgomery was seen on video walking towards the river after leaving Kildare's Irish Pub at around 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

Montgomery's mother said last month that even finding her son in the river would bring closure for the family. They have asked for privacy at this time.

"We need time to mourn together as a family," Karen said.
