The spiritual successor to the harrowing "Clock Tower" horror series of games now has a "real" title. The new game in the series was formerly known as "Project Scissors," but now it is "NightCry," Japanese developer Nude Maker has announced via Game Informer.
For the uninitiated, the "Clock Tower" series of games began in 1995 on the Super Nintendo and spanned four games. The killer and/or killers in those titles typically used a large pair of scissors to torment and/or murder victims, hence the original "Project Scissors" name.
Nude Maker revealed the new name with the live action teaser trailer which you can watch below. The teaser was directed by Takashi Shimizu, who you might know from the Japanese horror film "Ju-on" and its American remake "The Grudge."
Shimizu will also work on the game with its director, "Clock Tower" creator Hifumi Kono, composer Nobuko Toda, and the "Silent Hill" art director responsible for the iconic Pyramid Head, Masahiro Ito.
"NightCry" is set on a luxurious cruise liner in the middle of the ocean, where a series of gruesome and mysterious murders begins to take place. When the ship is left stranded at sea, the player is tasked with solving the murder mystery to ensure their own survival.
"Night Cry" is coming only to hand-held devices: the PS Vita, iOS and Android.
