A 24-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to "attacking commuters while naked at a San Francisco subway station" according to CNN.
According to the Huffington Post, the incident occurred on May 10 but footage of the man's bizarre behavior has recently surfaced on social media. The video was allegedly recorded by a BART station employee. Click here for the video.
Yeiner Garizabalo, also known as Yeiner Perez, is reportedly on a $100,000 bond and faces the possibility of deportation for chasing and attacking commuters and performing acrobats while naked at the "underground 16 Street BART station."
"To our knowledge, [Mr. Garizabalo] never exhibited this type of behavior previously and this episode came as a complete surprise to us," said his former employer, ClownSnotBombs Circus, in a statement. "Now that he has seen the video and understands the gravity of what really happened, he feels both guilty and horrible for what he has done. He is extremely depressed, under a lot of stress, and very afraid."
Members of ClownSnotBombs Circus claimed the former colleague described the incident as "being in a play at the train station." A witness described to be "busking in the station at the time" of the fiasco supports the claim. On Facebook the witness said Garizabalo made "strange noises and wild arm gestures, and then he began prancing like he was walking a tightrope." Click here for the full statement.
Garizabalo is scheduled to appear in court July 18. After he was arrested, he was sent for a mental evaluation. Results of the evaluation have not been released.
According to CNN, ClownSnotBombs Circus were aware of Garizibalo's questionable mental state and scheduled for him to be "admitted to a hospital for a psychiatric and medical examination."
He was arrested a day before the examination.
Fox 8 reports the acrobat faces "two felony counts of false imprisonment, four misdemeanor counts of battery, and one misdemeanor count of sexual battery."
