Sony will launch its PlayStation Now subscription program in North America on January 13, the corporation has announced via Polygon.
The service gives customers access to an online library of more than 100 PlayStation 3 games, which can be streamed to various Sony devices such as Smart TVs, Sony Xperia smartphones, the PS Vita, and consoles.
For now, the subscription service is only available to those with a PlayStation 4, though Sony says access will be open to other devices soon.
The cost of the subscription is $20 per month, or $45 per quarter, both of which give the subscriber unlimited access to the full library of PlayStation 3 games.
Right now, PlayStation Now users can only rent individual games, paying as much as $5 for four hours of access to titles such as "Batman: Arkham City." But 90-day subscriptions to individual games can cost as much as $30.
The trailer below shows off some of the PS3 games that will be added to PlayStation Now in January, such as "The Last of Us" and "NBA 2K14."
To celebrate the North American launch of the service, Sony is offering a one-week free trial. On top of that, a free PlayStation Now theme will be available in early January. Those who download the theme will be entered into a prize drawing that can win one lucky entrant a free one-year subscription to this new game streaming service.
