California Attack: No Motive for Rampage Left Baby Dead and Wounded Three

No motive has been identified for why a shooter injured three members of a family in California and snatched a baby girl who was later found dead in a trash receptacle not far from the border of Mexico, the New York Times reported.

The public is being tasked with helping find the attacker, and Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna pleaded for its assistance on Monday. A $10,000 reward is being offered for any information that helps identifying the shooter.

"Somebody somewhere saw what happened, and we need you to come forward," Luna said, according to Yahoo!.

Eliza Delacruz's body was found discarded in a trash can behind a strip mall, about 120 miles away from where her mother, father and uncle were shot that same day. The mother and uncle are in critical condition in the hospital.

The family's home shows no sign of forced entry and nothing was stolen. Lt. Llyod Cox of homicide said. He believes it was a targeted attack and police are going through the backgrounds of those who were attacked.

Long Beach Detective spokeswoman Marlene Arrona said the police weren't able to issue an Amber Alert for the missing baby girl because there was no vehicle description.

"One of the criteria for that is having a license plate number. We don't even have that," Arrona said.
