Grace Helbig slowly built her Internet empire over the last six years and E! network hopes she can bring the same magic to traditional television.
The YouTube star will host a new talk show called "The Grace Helbig Project" (working title) starting in April. Helbig will give her "fresh take on what's trending in pop culture" and feature exclusive interviews with celebrity guests, according to E! News.
"Congratulations to E! for giving an Internet-obsessed introvert a talk show," Helbig told E! "I'm looking forward to working with humans."
Unlike typical talk shows, she will perform interviews in peculiar places such as inside her car or at a grocery story. Her fans on social media also will shape a lot of the show as she interacts with them online.
"It's a lot like the way I make my web videos. It happens in my personal space, but it's built out a little bigger with some bigger guests and some bigger shticks so that fits into the television mold," Helbig said during the YouTube program "Talks at Google" in November. "It's really infused with suggestions from Twitter, Tumblr and all the other Internet spaces."
The 29-year-old comedian has garnered more than 2 million subscribers on her YouTube page. She also created the award-winning web series "DailyGrace," and her book, "Grace's Guide: The Art of Pretending to Be a Grown-up," landed at No. 1 on the New York Times Bestseller list.
"This show is a fresh take on the conventional talk show with a very unconventional host who has already captured an enormous fan base of young viewers on the web," Jeff Olde, E!'s executive vice president of original programming and development, told E! News. "As we continue to seek out programming that offers a rich multi-platform experience, we are excited to launch this forward-thinking talk show that speaks so perfectly to our audience and to the core of E!'s pop culture brand."
